Rockland County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), a division of the Rockland County Department of Health, is made up of 14 Volunteer Basic Life Support (BLS) and 2 Advanced Life Support (ALS) agencies, an EMS Coordinator, Assistant EMS Coordinator, and 11 Deputy EMS Coordinators.

Emergency response is provided 24 hours a day 365 days a year to Rockland's 300,000 residents and visitors. With the assistance of local police departments' dispatch system, the ambulance is quickly sent to your emergency.

Remember - save 911 for true emergencies!

If an emergency occurs dial 911!

Don't panic - stay calm - and give the dispatcher the following information:

  1. Type of emergency – Medical, Fire or Police
  2. Your name
  3. Address of emergency
  4. Phone number you are calling from

Also:

  • Don't hang up until directed by dispatcher.
  • Do not move the victim unless there is imminent danger present.
  • Make sure your house number is visible to responders.
  • Have someone wait outside to direct responders.
  • Remember when you are out on the road, yield the right of way to emergency vehicles and vehicles with green lights. These are responders on their way to assist someone in need!

Stroke

Learn the signs and symptoms of a stroke, and call 9-1-1 right away if you think someone might be having a stroke. Getting fast treatment is important to preventing death and disability from stroke.

Classes and Trainings

We offer many different classes and training initiatives, including CPR and First Aid, and safety and health training to meet the needs of the community and worksites. Call 845-364-8923 for more information.
