Our goal is to ensure compliance for a safe and desirable living and working environment, thereby protecting the health, property and quality of life for all Rockland County residents.

What is Rockland Codes Investigations?
Preserving the quality and character of Rockland County's neighborhoods is a top priority for the Day Administration. As a result, County Executive Ed Day launched the Rockland Codes Initiative in April, 2015 to promote our mission:
...to fairly and impartially enforce the codes and ordinances of Rockland County to protect the health, property and quality of life for all Rockland County residents.
Recently re-named Rockland Codes Investigations, RCI is an innovative approach to combating health, housing and fire safety issues. RCI is responsible for identifying various neighborhood concerns ranging from illegal apartments and sanitary code violations to overcrowded, unsafe living conditions. Complaints are investigated by the Rockland County Department of Health.
We focus on blight remediation, code compliance, public health and safety issues, and strive to enhance Rockland County's position as a premier place to live, work and raise a family. Skilled inspectors respond to complaints submitted to the Health Department and work diligently with landlords, tenants and the Board of Health to resolve the issues. Remedies may include substantial fines for offending parties, referrals to departments and agencies within local government and assisting residents in need of housing and/or health guidance.
